Gemini:
May to 20 June
Element:
Air Sign (Intellect) second Decan of the Air Triplicity
Quality: Mutable
(Changeable, Flexible, Chameleon)
Polarity: Masculine/Positive/Yang
(assertive and outgoing)
Symbology:The
symbol for Gemini is the Twins, originally thought to be Castor and
Pollux, or Romulus and Remus, the twin boys raised by a wolf who
ultimately founded the city of Rome. They are also sometimes thought
to be Cain and Abel, or the twins Good and Evil. Twins represent
duality of personality, the ability of each person to choose good or
evil. The names Castor and Pollux are also symbolic: Castor means
"pure" and Pollux means "polluted". Gemini
represents the transition between spring and summer (Northern), when
the seeds have become saplings and it is a busy time of weeding and
watering. Gemini is force of mind united with spirit and carried into
physical manifestation by the mechanical use of the hands and the
wise application of the word. The function of Gemini in the chart is
to receive and impart information. It embodies the principle of
selection - choosing the right ideas on which the soul will grow.
Mythology:
In mythology, Castor and Pollux were the half mortal sons of
Jupiter, but Castor was more mortal and Pollux more immortal. Castor
was killed during a battle and Pollux begged Jupiter to take his life
instead. Jupiter refused and instead allowed them both to alternately
but not together, live in the land of the dead and the living. This
was just as intolerable to the brothers who were inseparable during
their lives. Finally Jupiter released them from their misery for all
time by placing them together in the sky. Castor and Pollux are the
patrons of sailors and the twin brothers of Helen of Troy.
Glyph: The
Gemini glyph represents two separate entities (shown by the two
vertical lines), at the same time separate but held together
permanently by the two horizontal lines. The house ruled by Gemini in
the chart shows is where you will become aware of your environment
and where you reason and communicate about your interaction with
others and the situations within your environment. It is where your
superficial thought processes work and where you translate
experiences into useful knowledge. The house ruled by Gemini
shows where you are at your most extroverted and most adaptable.
Gemini has an affinity with the 3rd house as both are concerned with
communication and the mind. Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury and
is related with the sextile aspect.

Some
other words to describe Gemini: Positive:
Gregarious, intellectual, curious, communicative, funny, quick,
vivacious, living in organised chaos, flexible, studious. Negative: Frivolous,
unreliable, superficial, erratic, slapdash, changeable, unpunctual,
restless, long winded, needs constant stimulation, bores easily, take
shortcuts, scattered, lacks persistence.
Gemini
constantly seeks knowledge and information, but the knowledge gained
is superficial as he moves from one thing to another too rapidly to
gain a deep understanding or depth of wisdom. One could liken it to
trivial pursuit type of knowledge. Gemini's philosophy is variety and
he needs constant new diversions, so he is often seen as changeable
and superficial. He is sociable and enjoys meeting new people but is
easily bored and very restless. He is a great talker and constantly
needs to know "why?" Gemini children drive
their parents nutz
with
questions, trying to find out as much as possible about the greatest
variety of subjects in the shortest possible time!
Gemini
loves to play games, physical, mental and social but his lack of
empathy and understanding of feelings often causes him to hurt
others. He didnt mean to hurt-he was simply intent on the game
he was playing and didnt consider the consequence. Gemini lives
almost entirely in the realm of the mind and places great store on
his intelligence and quick wits. He is usually excellent at
mathematics and languages and may be a very good writer or orator,
but may lack the creative energy of a good artist. His or
her's most noticeable feature is their eyes, which are usually light,
and dart quickly from one thing to another. He or she tends to be
nervous, often thin, and very quick in his movements. They speak very
quickly, often not finishing one sentence before starting another and
they cannot talk without their his hands! He or she loves to have fun
and is generally light-hearted.
Allegory:
"To you Gemini, I give the questions without answers so that
you may bring to all an understanding of what man sees around him.
You will never know why men speak or listen, but in your quest for
the answer, you will find my gift of Knowledge." And Gemini
stepped back into place.
